Stack points and miles with Gas Stations
Since we have several road trips coming up in the next few months, we’ve been focusing on how we can maximize our points and miles stacking when filling up our car with gas.
Here are some of the ways we get the most rewards out of filling up our car:
- ???? Gas is a 5x quarterly category on the Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards. Use one of these cards for the purchase and then transfer the points to your Sapphire for maximum Ultimate Rewards points. If you aren’t a Chase user, the Citi Premier card offers 3x on gas.
- ???? Upside is an app that gives you cash back for buying gas at participating gas stations. Once you create an account, all you need to do is pay with a linked card and expect to receive cash back for the purchase within a few days. We’ve seen places from 1 cents / gallon or up to 25 cents / gallon back. Upside has partnerships with BP, Shell, Mobil, Speedway and more. In addition to purchasing gas, Upside also has partnerships with restaurants and some groceries for maximum cash back.
- ? Sign up for the loyalty programs via gas station apps. Many of these retailers offer rewards simply for being a member, while others will offer targeted promotions to members throughout the year.
- ???? For any purchase, we submit receipts to a few apps for points. Fetch awards 25 points per receipt, with certain receipts earning more points based on targeted purchases. Points can then be redeemed for gift cards starting at 5,000 points. Another app we like for submitting receipts is ReceiptPal. Submitting a receipt is worth 25 points, and awards start at 2,200 points. Through receipt apps, we’ve earned $45 worth of gift cards to retailers we shop at anyways.
