Copenhagen Marriott Review: An Amazing Waterfront Stay in the Heart of the City
Copenhagen Marriott Review: On our recent trip to Denmark, we spent five nights at the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel. Located right on the waterfront and within walking distance of many of the cityโs top attractions, it turned out to be a comfortable and convenient home base for exploring. Hereโs our full Copenhagen Marriott review, from location and lounge perks to whether itโs worth using Marriott points here.

- Average cash rate: $350โ$600 per night (can be higher during peak season)
- Points cost: 50,000โ70,000 points per night (dynamic pricing; higher in peak season)

- Best for: Travelers who want larger rooms than typical European hotels, convenient location, and extra value from Marriott elite status
Copenhagen Marriott Review: Getting There
The Copenhagen Marriott is well connected and easy to reach from the airport or train station.
- From Copenhagen Airport (CPH): The hotel is about a 20โ25 minute drive or taxi ride, depending on traffic. Public transit is also straightforwardโtake the train or metro into the city and connect to Copenhagen Central Station.
- From Copenhagen Central Station: Itโs about a 10โ15 minute walk to the hotel. If youโve got heavy luggage, a short taxi ride is also an option.
- By Bike: Since Copenhagen is famously bike-friendly, you can also rent bikes directly from the hotel and get around like a local.
Copenhagen Marriott Review: Location
The Copenhagen Marriott is located along the Kalvebod Brygge waterfront. Itโs about:
- 10โ15 minutes on foot to Tivoli Gardens and Copenhagen Central Station
- A quick walk or bike ride to popular neighborhoods like Vesterbro and the historic city center
- Close enough to explore on foot, but slightly removed from the busiest streets, so the area feels calm
The location struck a nice balance: central and convenient, but not noisy or overcrowded.
Unbeknownst to us, the day we arrived, the hotel was setting up for the Red Bull Jernhest, a unique and wild competition where teams of two navigate a water-based obstacle course on custom-designed bikes while trying not to fall into the water – spoiler alert, they usually did. The waterfront was packed during this event, so we steered clear and enjoyed the crowds from afar.

Copenhagen Marriott Review: Check-In & Welcome
At check-in, the staff were warm and professional. As Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members, we received Executive Lounge access, which turned out to be a huge perk in an expensive city like Copenhagen. With our status, we received a welcome gift of 1,000 points.
The lounge includes daily breakfast, evening hors dโoeuvres, and all-day drinks. Having a quiet space to grab breakfast before sightseeing and wind down with evening food overlooking the water made our stay even more enjoyable.
We were placed on the second-highest floor of the hotel, which is reserved for Executive-level rooms. Our city-view room overlooked Copenhagenโs skyline, and from the window we could even see the tall rides at Tivoli Gardens lighting up at nightโa fun bonus.

Copenhagen Marriott Review: About the Room
We stayed in a City View King Room on the Executive floor, and it was a comfortable space to come back to after full days of exploring Copenhagen.
Highlights of the room:
- Location on the second-highest floor, reserved for Executive-level rooms
- Large windows with panoramic city views, including Tivoli Gardensโ rides in the distance
- A comfortable king bed with crisp linens
- Desk and seating area, handy for working or planning sightseeing
- A spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower (no tub) and plenty of counter space. Thankfully, it was a fully enclosed shower, not those with the doors that have an open section and frequently leak water onto the floor.
- Dรฉcor and finishes that seemed recently updated within the last few years
For Europe, the room felt impressively spaciousโmuch larger than many hotels weโve stayed at across the continent. The modern updates gave it a clean look while still feeling warm and comfortable.
Copenhagen Marriott Review: Executive Lounge Access
The Executive Lounge was massive, with several rooms of seating, which helped during busy times. The Executive Lounge was one of the highlights of our stay.
Perks included:
- Breakfast: An expansive spread each morning with hot options, pastries, fruit, and coffee. Since thereโs no complimentary breakfast at the hotel otherwise, this was a huge benefit of Platinum status.
- Evening bites: Substantial hors dโoeuvres that could easily stand in for dinner some nights, plus wine and beer.
- All-day drinks: A nice option for grabbing something quick between outings.
In a city where eating out can get expensive fast, lounge access added real value to our stay.
We ate breakfast at the hotel everyday, which included eggs, bacon, potatoes, pastries, toast, muffins, and plenty of fruit. There was also pre-made overnight porridge and chia porridge.

The hors dโoeuvres options later in the day were significantly better than what we typically have seen at other hotels. At other places, it’s two, maybe three hot options that frequently don’t look that appealing. At the Copenhagen Marriott, there were a lot of vegetables and dip options (like hummus), falafel, meatballs, chicken skewers, and quiche (at a minimum) on most days.
It was also nice these snacks were served until 7pm, as we often see them wrap up by 6. Because of the amount of options and timing, there were certain nights that we option just to eat in the lounge. It made sense for us after a long day, helped us save money, and the food actually tasted pretty good.
As parents of a toddler, it was nice to see that the lounge had hotel-provided high chairs so we didn’t have to eat with our child on our laps.
Copenhagen Marriott Review: Hotel Amenities
The hotel offers a variety of amenities, including:
- On-site restaurant and bar with both indoor and outdoor seating
- Fitness center with modern equipment
- Bike rentals for guests, making it easy to get around Copenhagen like a local
- Waterfront location with walking paths right outside
We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant or bar, but other patrons certainly did, with both being pretty full every night we were at the hotel.
Copenhagen Marriott Review: Cost of Stay & Points Redemption
So, how much does it cost to stay at the Copenhagen Marriott?
Like most city-center Marriotts, rates can vary a lot depending on season, demand, and events happening in the city.
Cash Rates:
- Standard nightly rates usually run $350โ$600 USD per night.
- During peak summer months or busy times (like Christmas markets or major conferences), rates can climb higher.
- We paid cash using a corporate rate, which brought the nightly price down significantly to a level we were comfortable with.
Points Rates:
- When we checked, a five-night stay would have cost over 250,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, which didnโt feel like great value compared to our cash rate.
- Typical nightly points rates at this property hover around 50,000โ70,000 points per night under Marriottโs dynamic pricing model, but they can spike much higher depending on dates.
Stay 5, Pay for 4 Reminder:
If youโre redeeming points, Marriott offers its standard โStay 5, Pay for 4โ perk. This means youโll only pay for four nights in points when booking a five-night stay with points (the lowest-point-cost night is dropped), which can stretch your points further.
Value Tip:
In a pricey city like Copenhagen, the hotel can be a good use of points if you catch lower redemption rates. But depending on your travel dates and whether you have access to a corporate rate, paying cash may offer better value.
Copenhagen Marriott Review: Final Thoughts
The Copenhagen Marriott delivered exactly what we were looking for: a spacious, comfortable room with modern updates, great city views, and lounge perks that made our stay feel elevated.
The Executive Lounge access (thanks to Platinum status) made a huge difference, especially with breakfast included and evening bites that helped balance out the high cost of dining in Copenhagen.
While the hotel isnโt inexpensive, itโs well-located, offers generous rooms by European standards, and provides solid valueโespecially if you can take advantage of Marriott elite benefits, a corporate rate, or the Stay 5, Pay for 4 points perk.
For us, paying cash with a corporate rate was the smarter choice over points, but depending on when you visit, the Copenhagen Marriott could also be a good redemption option.

Copenhagen Marriott Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, the Copenhagen Marriott struck a great balance between comfort, convenience, and value for our stay in Denmarkโs capital. We loved being able to walk or bike almost everywhere while coming back each evening to a quiet, modern hotel right on the water. The Executive Lounge access truly elevated the experienceโboth for the quality of food and the practical savings it offered in an expensive city.
While the hotelโs cash rates can be steep, itโs a solid choice for travelers who appreciate extra space, updated rooms, and reliable Marriott service. If you have elite status or find a favorable rate, itโs even better. For us, it was the ideal mix of comfort and convenienceโa spot weโd gladly stay at again the next time weโre in Copenhagen.
